This past week was filled with hard speed workouts and a race in Bismarck on Saturday. Everyone was working hard to prepare for the meet with an especially hard speed workout on Tuesday with 600’s at end of year race pace. Another speed workout of 400’s and 800’s at first mile pace and goal pace followed on Thursday. Reduced mileage followed on Friday to help prepare and get the runners well rested for Saturdays meet.
The boys did well and fought hard. A few boys came out of Bismarck with new PR's like Eric Olsen, Chris Demuth, Jake Hanson, Alejandro Puckett, and Emmett Sum. The varsity boys came out with a 9th place over 16 teams, JV had 9th out of 14 teams, and Middle School finished 4th out of 9 teams. Very proud of Ryan Meyer and Adam Arnold for coming up to race varsity and running hard. Chris Demuth also had a big race with a PR and came in first for centrals JV team.
Varsity girls had a great race with Karly Ackley, Alexis Roehl, and Rachel Torrey finishing 1st, 4th, and 5th. Mikayla Weiss came in 32nd overall. Rachel Hatcher finished 44th and saw her first top 5 appearance. This helped Varsity claim first over 15 teams, JV took 4th out of 9 teams and Middle school claimed 7th out of 8 teams. The girls did great and had a good amount of PR’s.
This coming week our top girls are headed off to Roy Griak for a very competitive race with a lot of national ranked teams and the top teams from the midwest. The rest of the team in going to the Milaca mega meets bright and early at 4:45. We wish everyone good luck in their upcoming meets and can’t wait to see the results.
