NIKE CROSS NATIONALS (“NXN”) is the ultimate cross country racing series, comprised of a series of regional championship events that culminate with the national championship Dec 3rd in Portland Oregon. The nine regions are: Heartland, Midwest, Northwest, Southwest, South, Northeast, Northeast, Southeast, California, and New York. The top 2 teams from each region and top 5 individuals, not on a qualifying team, are invited to Nike Cross Nationals.
North Dakota is part of the Heartland Region, that also includes: IA - KS - MN - NE - SD - WI. Grand Forks Central sent down its Club team, Knights XC, that is made of members from the high school team. The girls competed in the Championship division (the national qualifying race) and had their highest finish ever as a team placing 10th out of 29 teams. Central's Karly Ackley punched her ticket for the National Champions by placing 4th overall.
