Sunday the Knights will be running their last race of the 2013 season. They are attending the Heartland Regional Meet In Sioux Falls, SD. The Heartland region consists of IA - KS - MN - NE - ND - SD - WI. This race is sponsored by Nike, and the top two teams from each championship race advance, and top five individuals not on advancing team, advance to Portland, Oregon for the National Championship race.
This year both our boys and girls team qualified championship division, we are allowed to run seven on a team. We have the most girls traveling to the meet than ever before, so we also have a girls team running in the open division!! I'm very excited this year about everyone who is traveling, this is the largest amount of runners who have traveled to this meet. But also I'm just as excited to see such a large group of parents who are helping bring our runners to the meet! It is going to be a great way to finish the great season we have already had.
One of my favorite things about attending a meet like this is the chance for our runners to see so many great athletes from other states, and realize just how much they can still push themselves to improve. It is a great incentive for them to train through the winter.
