Week 5 was a bit of a whirlwind. We had long run on Monday, and then speed the next day when it was 90 degrees! Everyone pushed through it though and had good workouts despite the heat. On Saturday we headed to Bismarck, where it was a balmy 48-50 degrees outside and rainy. Everyone ran really well though and we had lots of PR's. Ryan Meyer got 20th in his varsity race and the boys ended up getting 8th place. The varsity girls won with 4 of our girls placing in the top 20. Aislinn Hunter won her first JV race with Maia Jackson following close behind, and Madison Elden in her first JV race, placed 11th! Our Middle School boys had Carter Elde leading them with a 25th place finish, and the Middle School girls had Jillian Riley leading them. These past two weeks have been pretty hard but it all payed off. Next week we head to two meets, varsity girls to Minneapolis for the Roy Griak meet and then the others heading to Milaca for the Milaca Mega Meet!

In Week 4 of the season, the team was still trying to get used to the feel of school and having practice after school everyday. But we started off the week with a nice speed workout down at Lincoln park. I'm the middle of the week we had long run because of having a meet on Saturday. So then on Saturday came the fun part of showing off all of our hard work. We traveled to West Fargo where the all of the age groups completed very well and we had many people place in the top 20!! We had some people that really stood up and ran very very well. We even had some middle schoolers run Varsity and they ran some impressive times even with a course that was slow. The wind was relentless and the ground was uneven but everyone fought through it and ran very well!!
Week 5 of the season was a little different than other weeks. We started off the week with long run because of the weather. It was in the 80s on Monday and Tuesday set a new record for ND as it hit 94 so we just did a quick speed workout. We have also been having weights from 3:30-4:00 which is kinda fun to go lift some weights. On Friday which is the day before a big meet out west in Bismarck we watched a inspirational video that talked about how the little thing make a big difference and how to never give up even when it's tough. Then the big day came, time to do a little racing! We had a nice 4 hour bus ride to Bismarck and it wasn't the nicest day but it was definitely better than a 90 degree day, it was about 58 degrees. But besides that it was a big meet, we're talking the top 5 class A teams in the state and the top class B school. But boy did we make our presence bold. We showed those upper schools what we can do and we had some of the middle schoolers really push hard and PR. That's what we look for as athletes, improvement and knowing that you have never ran that fast in your life and that's one of the best feelings ever!! After said and done, we all had a great day and we all "ran with a purpose" as Coach Allan would say!
