Captains Crunch - week 13

This past week we've been preparing to go to regionals. Anybody who wanted to, could come, so we have some of our younger girls who didn't get to go to state, get to have one last meet. Since the pressure from state is finally off the atmosphere at practice has been a little more laid back and easy going. On Wednesday we had our speed workout and we got to do Fox and Hound, which is more a of a game like speed workout. But before we started Fox and hound, we got to do an all out 800 race around the track at Cushman. You didn't have to do the race but it was fun for all of us who did it. The race ended up being really close and our 4x8 team is looking to be strong for track season. Several of us set new personal records and it was exciting to see where everyone placed. Thenon Thursday we had our three mile build up. Mostly everyone set new personal records in this and everyone was looking strong. The regional race for girls we will be running a 5k, just like the boys. So this last week as we train we need to remember, not to go out too fast because we have a whole extra thousand meters to go. But the regional race also has several extra surprises along the way. It has a couple steep short rolling hills( which you should try not to face plant... Rachel Cox) as well as several hay bales we get to jump over. These extra fun things help to keep you alert and help the extra thousand to go by quickly. So as the season wraps up we are glad to see everyone still trying hard to do their best. It's not very often that we get so many people willing and ready to run at regionals so this is looking to be an exciting race.
