The EDC indoor/outdoor track meet was overall successful for many of the girls at GFC. We had three who qualified for state and many others who were close! Girls placed 4th overall. As for the sprinters, we also had a good day! Sophia Nelson placed in all of her events: long jump 6th, 4x100m relay 6th, and 100m Hurdles 7th. Lexi Grinolds, also placed in the 4x100m relay, and took 3rd in the 3rd heat of the 100m dash. I was in the 4x400 m relay with Lexi, Alexis Roehl, and Megan Peck, and placed 7th. Overall it was a successful meet!

This year I started the season a little different than I usually do. Early February I acquired a shin injury that caused me to take several weeks off from running and cross train on the elliptical and bike. So that I could get more than one event in meets, Coach Allan sent me over to javelin and discus practice. Now I get a little taste of both distance and throwing practice. At the EDC "indoor", I got to chance to throw javelin for the first time, along with freshman Alexia Scott, also a fellow distance runner. Although we weren't the greatest (I threw 44' 7", and Alexia threw 49' 4"), it was fun to try something new at a meet rather than just run! I also ran in the 4x800 relay with Rachel "Rat" Torrey, Grace Roehl, and Maggie Powell. We got 5th and everyone ran their fastest splits of the season, some ran their fastest times of their lives!
There were plenty of PR's because of the benefit of running outdoors and we had three State Qualifiers! But there were some flops in the meet. The 4th and 5th heat of the girls' 400 had clock problems so unfortunately none of them have official times! Other than that, the meet went really well. We got 4th as a team, which is a major improvement from previous years and I'm excited to see where we go!
