Girls Captain Blog - Oct 7th

The last two weeks have been gone very good for our teams! We've participated in three different meets, Mayville, Milaca, and our home meet. The team had to split up for the Mayville and Milaca meets, with some people going to both. We were very successful at both meets, coming home with many PRs and even a few wins.

At Milaca, things were different this year with girls running a 5K. It was definitely a challenge, but all the girls triumphed and showed that we can compete at any distance. Seeing our success makes me excited for next year when North Dakota will upgrade to a 5K race every meet for girls.

This past weekend was our home meet. It was smaller than our pre-state meet earlier this season, but we still saw some other schools from around the state that we haven't seen in awhile. Everyone was scoping out the course, preparing for our state meet in three weeks. The girls walked away with another win, which gives us high hopes and confidence walking into EDC and State. We also had an 8th grader, Megan Peck, make her first appearance in our top 5, which is not an easy thing to do.

Many people have been getting excited, and nervous, for state in a few weeks. But before we think about the state meet, we still have EDC this weekend to think of. This will be the last meet this year that everyone will compete at and it makes me sad to think I won't be seeing a lot of people until next year. It's been an amazing season and the closeness of this team has made it even better!
