The last week of regular season has passed, and I am sad to see it go. Although I wish we could take everyone to state, we can only choose ten runners and some alternates. But I will say, that I am so proud of all the girls that made it to state and that finished out their year with EDC. EDC for many did not turn out as they wanted. It was windier and hotter than many anticipated, and there were some "surprise" rolling hills. But even with these surprises, our girls toughed it our and ran hard to finish out the year strong. One of our middle schoolers, Sydney, even placed in the top 20 for her race, finishing her year with a ribbon, even coming off a recent injury! Then in the varsity race, we had some tough competition as we raced to regain our title as EDC champs! While the times happened to be slow, our girls showed their true spirit as they gave their all for some very high placing. Karly started it off with regaining her title as EDC champ, Alexis came next in 3rd followed by me in 4th. Then Rachel Torrey came ac ross the line in 7th, and Maggie wrapped up our top five in 17th place with an enthusiastic little jump! In the end we were able to capture the team title for the 3rd year in a row, as well as 5 conference placers, a co-senior EDC athlete of the year award and a girls EDC coach of the year award. This week, we also gave our "sword" to Maggie Powell, for stepping up when we needed her to, and for passing the girls she needed to pass. Also for placing all-conference at her last EDC, something she has never done before, overall we couldn't be prouder of her. Although I am extremely sad that this is my last EDC ever, I couldn't have been happier with the results. Our girls proved their toughness and their love for the sport, when they race, giving all they have, and leaving everything out on the course. So after this years EDC, I can say full and well, that I am proud to be a Central Knight. Thanks for a great season ladies!
