EDC was more exciting than I could've even imagined! These girls have worked so hard this season and their hard worked paid off! I'm so proud of my team! We had 3 new qualifiers but multiple more events!
Sophomore Lexi Grinolds and senior Madde Krenelka were two of our new qualifiers. Along with Juniors Grace Finney and Sophia Nelson, they qualified the 4x100m relay, and with time to spare! It's been awhile since Central has had such a solid sprinting team!
The other new qualifier was junior Grace Roehl who doubled and got both the 1600m and 3200m runs with 6th place finishes and PRs to get 5:25 and 11:51 respectively in her events!
But those weren't the only new events qualified! Sophia Nelson also placed 6th in the 100m hurdles, securing her ticket to state in that event as well! Now, with 3 events: 4x100m relay, 100m hurdles, an long jump, Sophia has her plate pretty full going into the meet. Jasmine Lindblad snagged a 3rd place finish in the discus to add another event to her list, now throwing both discus and shot put at the state meet!
Although there were lots of tears of joy, there were also tears of sadness as some people were just a hair short of qualifying. Rachel "Rat" Torrey missed the 800m run by 1 place by coming in 7th. And Maggie Powell was just 3 seconds shy of getting a chance to run the 3200m run at State. But luckily Rat has qualified in 3 other events and Maggie will be riding along to the State meet as the 2nd alternate in both the 4x800m relay and 4x100m relay.
Overall it was a fantastic meet and I'm glad to have been apart of such a fantastic 5 years with these girls! I will miss them all so much next year and I will be cheering my heart out at State watching them all perform!
