Our first indoor meet, at Concordia, went very well, it was great to finally get out of the hallways at Central High School and compete. We traveled 36 boys, (many didn't have enough practice days), and for many it was their first high school meet. We had a very successful meet, the boys placed 3rd and won five different events: Terence Adams shot put, Thomas Devine Pole Vault, David Hettich 1600m and 800m, and Leif Larsen 3200m. It has been several years since Central has placed someone in the sprints and we placed two in the 55m! The results mixed up our runners (posted in the results page tab), Senior Zach Walz was actually 5th, and Freshman Sam Cherilus 7th. Zach continued his Track & Field debut with a impressive 4th place finish in the 200m along with Junior Greg Olsen's 6th place. Our young hurdlers are showing great promise by placing Junior Darian Colgrove 4th, Soph Andrew Arnold 5th, and Soph Matt Filson 6th.
The girls team also started out strong with a 2nd place finish. The girls had several individual winners: Girls 4x8 (Rachel Torrey, Karly Ackley, Grace Roehl, Rachel Cox), Karly Ackley in 3200m, Grace Finney Pole Vault, Sophia Nelson Long Jump. The first week of the 2015 Track season has been completed and today we started week 2. The first week was a extremely busy: Basketball is still going, the State Hockey tournament started on Thursday, and we had no school Thursday or Friday. It will be nice to get into a schedule this week with the big group of boys we have out. I'm very happy with the turn out. The freshman class of boys really has me excited for the future and several of them will step immediately and help out filling events at varsity meets. The highlight of this upcoming week has to be Friday, our Competition day. This is where we have our different disciplines complete against each other in a series of events. I just want everyone to know its not to late to still join and I think we will surprise some teams this year, we are going to be much more competitive in our relays, something that is always a goal for Central!
