The distance runners made the best of the warming weather (34 degrees) to build a snowman after running their 3 minute runs. Even with the colder than normal temperatures they are keeping their spirits high with a new type of cool down.

Thanks to the GFC booster club we have a new 6 feet by 4 feet record board on order for the boys and girls track teams. I have looked over the first proof's of it and I'm very excited about how it will look and I hope it will bring more attention to our track & field teams. It will be located next to the stairs going up to the Central main gym by the end of April.
It has been increasingly difficult to keep a large participation numbers out for boys track & field. I'm always looking for new ways to increase our numbers. I think a big part of our future success will be making sure our feeder middle school teams have a postive experience. Our coaching staff is looking at ways to make sure those younger athletes enjoy their season. As I write this, I'm curious if people are reading this blog about our team and enjoying the updates? What do parents, alumni, and current team members want to see written here? What additional pages and information do you want on this new website. I try to put something new on here every day and I would like to get some feedback!! So if you are reading this, please give me your thoughts and comments!!! The Paul Bunyan Classic had 29 teams, 17 heats of girls 200m dash, 19 heats of boys 200m dash, 130 boys running the 60m dash, which all led up to the longest meet of my 20 years of coaching, 8 hours 56 minutes. But both teams had successful days and did a great job of competing! The Central Boys finished second, with the 4x2 being the highlight by winning the race and just missing the meet record. Seniors Wes Austin, Carrington Adams, Killian Gause, and Freshman Adam Grove lead from the gun and increased their lead with each leg. Our evening ended with having pizzas being delivered to the field house, then having to transfer all of our things from our orignal bus, that broke down, to a new bus. We arrived home late, and I'm sure there will be a lot of tired, but successful, young men at school today. Several of our new Track & Field althetles got a chance to compete in their first high school meet Saturday at the Bemidji Lions Indoor meet. It was a lot of fun to watch them work out their first meet jitters and run, jump, or throw. Several earned their first points ever for the Knights: Taylor Tomlinson 1600m, Cody Rowley 800m, Rylie Devier 200m & 4x200, Alex Grove HJ & 4x200, Adam Grove HJ & 4x200 & Triple Jump, Spencer Oen Pole Vault, Chris Caraballo 4x400m Congrats to Senior Carrington Adams and the Central Knights for a great day at the 2013 State Indoor Meet. Carrington won the Long Jump, 21 feet, placed 3rd in the Triple Jump, 40' 11.5", and 8th in the 60m dash. We also had many Central athletes earn Personal Records (PR's) at our first meet of the 2013 season: Brandon Gregie 60m Hurdles & 400m, Carrington Adams 60m dash, Wes Austin 60m Dash, Alex Dianat 1600m & 800m.
The 2013 indoor season started with a 2 hour round trip bus ride to Buxton and back. Coaches decided due to bad weather conditions to return back to Grand Forks. It was a disappointing way to start the season, but the safety of our athletes comes first. We returned to Central, had a quick practice and are now preparing for the State A Indoor meet next Friday at NDSU, on their new indoor track. Coach Kohlmeier is seen wiping clean the buses windshield for the second time so we can see the road!! Welcome everyone to our new website! The goal of this new website is to keep athletes, parents, and alumni apprised of what is happening with GFC Track & Field and Cross Country programs. Hopefully there will be more updates and changes to the website over the next few months as we continue to make additions. So please keep checking back. Please pass on the site, knightrunning.com, to others you think might be interested. Also please send comments and suggestions to me at [email protected] about things that you would like to see on the website and possible improvements.
