Shanley Invite - Boys keep improving

4/28/2014

Once again the weather turned out to be better than forecasted.  Low winds at 10 mph and tempertures hovering around 48 degrees, allowed the Central boys to produce 19 Personal Records (PR's)!

The field events provided several of those PR's.  Jake Mussman started the day out with a PR of 6 feet in the high jump (seen above).  He is just 2 inches short of qualifying for state in that event.  Other PR's in the field events were Bilal Suleiman Long Jump, Joey Prince Triple Jump and Long Jump,  Jack Mussman Discus, Jon Krause Discus.

Central Boys on the track also captured their share of PRs.  Freshman Andrew Arnold continues to improve in the hurdles and lowered his best times in both the 110H and 300H's.  In the sprints Matt Miranda PR in the 100m, 200m, and his 400m races. Darian Colgrove also ran his best 200m of his career.

The boys and girls distance crew continued showing it's strength by producing a lot of PR's.  Camron Roehl won the mile with a state best 4:19.92 and a new PR. Freshman Richie Osborn is slowly approaching the normal freshman goal of 5 minute mile by knocking off another 7 seconds to run a 5:11.81.  Camron (1:58.24) and Julian Cavanaugh (2:14.14) both posted PR's in the 800. Shay Doward made sure the boys scored in every distance event by cutting off 12 secs to run a 11:15.40 two mile, but Ryan Keogh had the boys biggest PR of 27 seconds with a new PR of 12:20.87.

The Central distance girls also scored in each distance event.  They started the meet with three PR's in the mile, Karly Ackley (5:20.51), Rachel Torrey (5:44.93), and Mandy Williamson (5:45.89).  The girls contiuned their big day with more PR's in the 800m Karly Ackley (2:28.64), Rachel Torrey (2:38.89), and Madison Diemert (2:59.49).  One of the most exciting races of the day for the Knights distance runners was the girls 3200m.  The three Central girls combined cut off 1:13 in personal times.  Alexis Roehl finished second (11:58.60) but more importantly qualified for the state meet, beating the qualifing time of 12:05.  Her sister Grace (12:15.52), moved much closer to the SQ time along with teammate Rachel Cox (12:24.23).
