The team travels Friday to Bemidji MN for a smaller, but high quality meet. We went to this meet last year for the first time. It was a larger meet in 2012 because Bemidji was hosting the Section 8 Regional. This year the teams attending will be Bemidji, Bagley, Grand Rapids, Red River, Trek North, and Thief River Falls. It is really fun to see some new teams and runners. Also, since our team takes it's yearly summer camping trip to Bemidji State Park it is fun to return to race!
The meet starts at Greenwood Golf Course (1361 Swenson Road NE) with college races at 2:30 pm and 3:00 pm. The high school divisions start at 4pm with the JV girls race.
The Bemidji Girls are ranked 9th in Minnesota Class AA, lead by Jr. Jenna Truedson (#4 ranked), who last year at the Minnesota state meet finished 5th overall. It should be a great test for our girls team against a top Minnesota team and strong individuals.
The Bemidji Boys are tied for #10 team in Class AA (placed 6th in 2013 at state meet) are lead by Senior Sam Carlson, finished 23rd at 2012 state meet 15:58. Grand Rapids Jr. Issac Overmyer (#4 ranked Class A) is also one of the top individuals at the meet on Friday. The boys will be going for their third straight win, but I'm sure Bemidji will not want to lose at home, so it should be a great day of racing.
