33 Days till Track!

1/21/2015

Guess what everybody!!! Guess how many days are left until track! That’s right, 33! It’s almost here! This is like the final stretch of the winter.  The last lap. The sprint off. The end of the winter is going to be here before you know it.  So... are you ready? Many of us have been running, training and working hard to stay in shape all winter long. Some of have been doing other sports to pass the time.

This winter, our team has been doing a lot. Everyday, we see a pack of at least 4 girls training together, doing a variety of workouts to maintain their speed. The boys, although not as together when training, are doing the same, upping mileage and working at faster speeds. Many this winter have pushed themselves to their limits, doing one more repeat then usual or pushing themselves to run one more mile than they’ve ever run in the past.

If training in the winter is getting hard for anybody, remember; We Are a Team! Almost every Friday since the beginning of December, the part of our team that is training in the winter has joined together with Red River’s winter team to do various running-related events. We have done everything from hosting a mini-track meet to playing hour-long games of tag. Winter running CAN be fun! It can also be a chance to make new friends with the Red River Team!

The point we want to make is: If you aren’t ready, it is time to GET READY. We want this to be a year we will remember. It is going to be a season full of surprises, PR’s, victories, qualifiers, and excitement. We’ll see you all at the starting line! Let the races begin!
